Visiting the Church and American history sites ought to be viewed as a pilgrimage back to the moorings of our heritage as Latter-day Saints and Americans. You will become a traveler who journeys back in time to visit sites where the Prophet Joseph Smith and other great men and women in early American History were born, lived, and etched out their lives of greatness. We, as Church and American History travelers, will share in a cheerful spirit of cooperation and devoted faith in God as we laugh together and also feel of the same spirit that fired and burst upon the early Latter-day Saints and Americans. In essence we will all rediscover our birthright—our inheritance as Americans and Latter-day Saints.

Craig K. Manscill received his Bachelor’s degree from Weber State University in English and his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Brigham Young University in Family Studies. He has published Church History articles in the Ensign and Church News. Recently he has completed a book on the history of the Church for use in international Church settings.

Brother Manscill was employed with the Church Educational System for more than 20 years. He was a seminary teacher, CES coordinator in Fiji and in southeastern New York, Director of the Institute of Religion serving the United States Military Academy at West Point, and Manager of Institute Curriculum at Church headquarters. He is now an Associate Professor of Church History and Doctrine at BYU.
