O. Curtis Peterson
My goal is to have each participant on the tour come away with a stronger testimony of Jesus Christ, his church, his doctrine, and his prophet Joseph Smith. I also hope to make LDS Church history and the lives of the early Saints come to life in such a way that you will never forget your experience or be able to read the scriptures or sing the hymns with the same feelings again. Curtis Peterson taught as an instructor in the Church Educational System for 38 years; most recently at the Pocatello Institute of Religion adjacent to Idaho State University before retiring. He has a BS degree in Mathematics and History from Brigham Young University and an MA degree, also from BYU, in LDS Church History and Religious Education. His master’s thesis was on the School of the Prophets and the early education programs of the Church in Ohio and Missouri. He loves teaching.
He served a full-time mission to Northern California and two stake missions—one while serving in the U.S. Army and the other at BYU. He has worked in the Scouting program on the ward and stake levels, has served in several bishoprics, and was a Bishop in the Pocatello University Stake. He has also served on two stake high councils.
He has directed Church History and American Heritage tours for more than 20 years; he has also directed tours to Mexico and Hawaii. He helped formulate an itinerary and participants’ manual for Church History and Mormon trails tours for CES personnel.
Brother Peterson is married to Teri Boyer Peterson, and they are the parents of six children. Their grandchildren are a major source of their happiness. He claims that he is a fanatic about golf and fishing but loves all sports. He has a cabinet shop and loves to make cabinets and furniture.
