Cory Wm. Bangerter
Cory Wm. Bangerter has deep ties to Latin America from his ancestry to his own personal involvement. His maternal grandmother grew up in the Mormon Colonies in Mexico, and many family members have become heavily involved with the lands south of the border over the years. Personally, he has spent more than 16 years in Brazil and Portugal as well as many years of involvement with the Church Educational System in Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Brazil. He has traveled extensively in Europe and throughout the Middle East and the Orient as well as in Central and South America. His travels have taken him to many sites with Book of Mormon connections.
Brother Bangerter has been involved with CES for more than 30 years. He taught for a number of years in the seminary program and had administrative responsibilities in Brazil and Europe as well as in the Central Office in Salt Lake City. He spent five years as a Director of Training in the Provo Missionary Training Center and he has also written institute manuals as an Instructional Designer for CES. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and his Master's Degree in Communications, both from Brigham Young University. For nine years he was in the Utah National Guard, where he was able to maintain his language skills.
In the Church he has served as advisor to and teacher in the Young Mens Program, in several bishoprics as counselor and Bishop, on a High Council, in two Stake Presidencies, on a general Church Writing Committee, and as a Mission President and Counselor.
He is married to Gayle Bishop Bangerter; they are the parents of seven children and have six grandchildren. He enjoys team sports and has a great love for the outdoors. He also enjoys reading, traveling, and family history work.
