Thomas G. ChapmanDr. Thomas Chapman attended Orem High School, Snow College and received his BA degree in 1978 from Brigham Young University. From 1987 to 1992, he taught at Western High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. During this time he attended the University of Nevada and completed a Master’s degree in Political Science in 1992. Following this he worked as an Instructional Designer (screenwriter) in the CES central office until 1998. At this time he moved to Alpine, Utah, where he taught at the Orem Institute of Religion. He continued teaching while pursuing his EdD at the University of Wyoming until 2001 and then taught religion at the institute adjacent to the University of California at Santa Barbara until 2005. He is presently the Director and Chaplain of the Boston Institute of Religion.
Many have commented on Brother Chapman’s unique ability to bring the Spirit into his lessons as he instructs with humor and great gospel knowledge. He is well known for his particular interest in Church History. His hobbies and interests include American History, music appreciation, film, writing, college football, and Kimball Farms ice-cream. He has served as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, MTC Branch President, Bishop, High Councilor, and temple worker. Brother Chapman has been married to the former Marci Johnson, his college sweetheart, for over 30 years. They have two children and three grandchildren and reside in Belmont, Massachusetts.
