I love to travel; not for the sake of traveling itself, but because of what it does for me.  There is value and perspective that comes to those who experience the customs and traditions of other peoples.  My passion and appreciation for life, along with my acceptance of others increases as I try to see the world through their eyes.  It is also wonderful to experience the diversity and beauty of this world that God has provided for us His children.

Another component of travel that I enjoy is applying what I know about the gospel to the places I visit.  Whether studying God's revealed word about the creation of man while visiting the Galapagos Islands, or studying passages of the Book of Mormon while visiting the Mayan ruins, the gospel sheds great light on what we see with our physical eyes.

The historical element of travel fascinates me.  When I visit the relics of the Roman empire, walk along the shoreline of the Sea of Galilee, visit the Mayan temples in Tikal, or stand in the hauntingly silent confines of the Inca's Machu Picchu, there is something magical that happens.  I feel a connection with these peoples and cultures that only one who visits these places firsthand can truly understand.

Finally, the sheer beauty and majesty of God's handiwork is worth the travel itself! Whether watching whales breech in Glacier Bay, Alaska, or talking with a child in Otavalo's Indian Market ten thousand feet high in Ecuador's Andes Mountains, God's creations make the travel well worth the effort.
