Mark L. McConkie

Mark L. McConkie is the son of late LDS Apostle Bruce R. McConkie and the late Amelia Smith McConkie.  Along with a full-time mission in Argentina, his varied Church service has included the callings of Bishop, counselor to the President of the Colorado Denver Mission, and Stake President.

Mark L. McConkie received a Master's degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University and a Doctorate in the same field from the University of Georgia.

Professionally, Dr. McConkie has for more than twenty-five years been a member of  the faculty of the Graduate School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado. During his tenure there, he served as the Resident Dean for five years. 

A member of the International Congress on Advances in Management, he earned the unprecedented honor of twice receiving their Leadership Award (in 2001 and 2002). He has served on many community boards, lectured and consulted internationally in both the public and private sectors, is a member of The Academy of Management, and has been a member of the American Society for Public Administration and the International Organization Development Association. He has also lectured internationally and has published many articles in professional and scholarly journals.

Dr. McConkie has spoken widely for the Church Educational System in the Know Your Religion and BYU Campus Education Week programs. He is married to the former Mary Ann Taylor. They are the parents of nine children, and the family resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
