Jeff Chadwick

Brother Chadwick earned his BA from Weber State College in political science, with a minor in German.  He went on to study at BYU, earning his MA degree in international and area studies with an emphasis in Near Eastern history and geography and the political systems of Israel and the Arab states.  He then earned his PhD from the University of Utah Middle East Center, majoring in archaeology with an emphasis in Hebrew and other ancient languages. He has completed additional work at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Hebrew and the Tel Aviv University in archaeology.

 

A seminary instructor in Ogden, Utah, for thirteen years, Brother Chadwick has also taught at the institutes in Ogden and Logan. He has been a member of the BYU Jerusalem Study Abroad faculty since 1982, teaching summer terms first at Kibbutz Ramat Rahel from 1982-1986, and then the Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies from 1987 to the present. He also lived in Jerusalem for two years while teaching Near Eastern studies at the Jerusalem Center. Brother Chadwick has led numerous tours to the Holy Land and once had the unique opportunity of conducting the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing Master the Tempest is Raging while on a ship on the Sea of Galilee during a storm. He is a researcher and writer in Near Eastern Studies and is currently serving as a supervising archaeologist at the Tel Miqne/Ekron excavation in Israel each summer on behalf of the Jerusalem Center.

 

Brother Chadwick served a mission for the Church in West Germany and West Berlin, and has served as first counselor in the bishopric for his home ward in Farr West, a small town near Ogden. Brother Chadwick has served twice as a counselor in the Jerusalem Branch Presidency and as a Scoutmaster for this same branch.

 

Brother Chadwick married Kim Jensen on November 3, 1978, and they are the parents of six children:  Casandra, twins Daniel and David, Benjamin, Renee, and Abigailall have lived and gone to school in Israel.
