Day 6: Sat, Aug 14, 2010 - Excursion to Capri
Speed across the bay by JETFOIL to the Isle of Capri. Ride the FUNICULAR to Capri village for a guided visit of this pretty town and also visit the BLUE GROTTO. Free time to explore the little shops on the Piazzetta before returning to Sorrento. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (Meals: B)
Day 7: Sun, Aug 15, 2010 - Sorrento - Montecassino - Assisi
Visit the ABBEY OF MONTECASSINO, the first of the Benedictine monasteries founded by St. Benedict around 529 AD. Then, travel today to the hilltop village of Assisi. Visit the CHURCH OF ST. CLARE with your Local Guide and enjoy a pleasant walk to the massive 13th-century lower BASILICA OF ST. FRANCIS. Time to take in this peaceful town on your own. Dinner is included tonight. Day 8: Mon, Aug 16, 2010 - Assisi-Siena-Florence
First stop this morning is in Siena. Walk through ancient, narrow lanes to Piazza Del Campo, site of the biannual Palio, Siena’s spectacular medieval style horse race. Then, continue through unforgettable landscapes of gently rolling, vine-clad hills to hilltop San Gimignano, and walk through the most picturesque of Italy’s perfectly preserved medieval towns. Next is Florence, the splendid capital of Tuscany and birthplace of the Renaissance. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening. (Meals: B,D)
Day 9: Tue, Aug 17, 2010 - Florence
Guided sightseeing features visits to the ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS to see Michelangelo's David, the CATHEDRAL, and Giotto's Bell Tower. Balance of the day is at leisure. (Meals: B,D)
Day 10: Wed, Aug 18, 2010 - Padua - Venice
Depart for Padua and journey on to Venice and enter by PRIVATE BOAT to meet your Local Guide. Visit ST. MARK'S SQUARE and its BASILICA and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. (Meals: B,D)
Day 11: Thu, Aug 19, 2010 - Innsbruck, Austria
Leave Italy via specatcular Brenner Pass to Austria. In Innsbruck, stroll through quaint medieval lanes to Emperor Maximilian's GOLDEN ROOF. Admire the impressive churches in the Old Town or browse through the many shops. (Meals: B,D)
Day 12: Fri, Aug 20, 2010 - Oberammergau, Germany
View the Bavarian Alps, and stop in Oberammergau for the PASSION PLAY. (Meals: B,L,D)
Day 13: Sat, Aug 21, 2010 - Oberammergau - Munich
Morning at leisure, then continue to Munich where an orientation drive features the Olympic Stadium, the 1,000-foot-high Television Tower, and Nymphenburg Castle. Enjoy this evening's Farewell dinner. (Meals: B,D)
Day 14: Sun, Aug 22, 2010 - Munich
Your homebound flight arrives the same day. (Meals: B)
